An easy paddle to a Lake Murray peninsula (even
called an "island"). At most water levels, you'll-
-discover nearly a mile of beach and unofficial walking
-paths around the area. This island is officially managed
-by SCE&G but it's perfectly acceptable to land your-
-canoe, kayak or paddleboard here.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate, but only due to open water crossing.
Distance: 5.4 miles, round-trip.
Time: 3 - 4 hours.
Crowds: Very light.
Put In / Take Out: Koon Landing # 2, 1501 Shull Island Road, Gilbert, SC 29054.

Current: Negligible, generally a southeast direction.
Precautions: Winds above 10 MPH can be tough for a paddler on Lake Murray. There is a lot of open
water for wind to intensify and cause waves/whitecaps. Be mindful of fast moving motorized boats and
use your paddle to signal your location.
Water Level: For this Blueway paddle trail, water level is not as much of a concern.
